Rare and original, Large Size, ca1900 Cast Iron, Horse Drawn, Hook and Ladder Fire Truck / Wagon manufactured by the Hubley Manufacturing Company of Lancaster, Pennsylvania. This early, Cast Iron Fire Engine / Ladder Wagon measures 27” long overall x 7 3/4" tall (to the top of its ladder racks) x 4 3/4" wide.
The Ladder Wagon is drawn by a team of two, separately cast horses one of which with black with gold gilt trimmed harnesses and the other which was nickel plated. The Ladder Truck features a yellow yoke and front wheel assembly and has 4 matching red spoke wheels. It retains its original ladder racks and the three, original red painted, wooden ladders. Both the ladder racks AND the body of the wagon have a rare, nickel plated surface. The Ladder Wagon lacks only its original front and rear drivers.
This is a very large and substantial Toy measuring 27" long and having a wonderful pair of galloping horses - as the front wheel beneath the horses turns, the horses rock backward and forward in a galloping-like motion.
This wonderful, ca1900, Horse Drawn Fire Truck / Ladder Wagon is in very good condition. As stated above, the front and rear drivers are missing but otherwise the Ladder truck is complete and 100% original - none of the parts have ever been repainted, touched-up, restored or altered in any way. All surfaces are original and although a significant amount of the original nickel plated surface on the body of the wagon and on one of the horses has been lost, the painted portions retain a significant amount of their original surface. With a re-nickel plating of the wagon body and horse this Ladder Truck will display stunningly!!! There are no crack, breaks, chips, repairs or physical damage of any kind to the cast iron. Important Notes about Shipping Charges:
The amount quoted for Shipping & Handling is calculated by and is equal to the EXACT amount charged by the Post Office plus a $1.00 "packing fee" - the $1.00 fee is our only compensation for the virgin packing materials we use on all of our professionally packaged boxes as well as our cost for the salaried help that does most of our packing - as I am sure you can see, we make NO profit on the Shipping charges and, in fact, our costs are usually greater than the $1.00 fee. Please contact us if there are any issues regarding the cost of shipping.
