NVIDIA Mellanox MC2207310-015 QSFP+ Active Optical Cable, 56Gb/s FDR VPI, 15m: This is a 15-meter active optical cable (AOC) in QSFP+ form factor for VPI operation, supporting 56Gb/s FDR InfiniBand and 56GbE Ethernet (4x14Gb/s NRZ). The cable uses 850nm VCSEL optics over multi-mode fiber. This is a fixed-length integrated assembly with permanently attached transceivers, not a transceiver pair with a separate patch cord.
Engineering Context
The MC2207310-015 uses 4x14.0625Gb/s NRZ signaling to deliver the 56Gb/s FDR rate. At 15 meters, this AOC is positioned for middle-of-row and short cross-row data center connectivity where passive copper at this length is bulky and adds weight to the cable tray. VPI (Virtual Protocol Interconnect) enables the same physical cable to operate as InfiniBand FDR or 56GbE Ethernet based on host port configuration. The cable provides complete EMI immunity between endpoints.
