Travel straight back to 2011 and the golden era of portable computing with an authentic, durable business workhorse: an original Acer TravelMate 5542 (Model PEW56 / 5542-3590) 15.6" Widescreen Notebook PC running its factory-original Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit installation!

Having the original factory operating system installation makes this system exceptionally desirable for collectors, archivists, and retro enthusiasts: all proprietary Acer system utilities, AMD Vision chipset drivers, ATI Radeon graphics drivers, High Definition audio codecs, touchpad profiles, and hardware hotkeys are completely native and fully configured out of the box—with zero missing driver yellow exclamation marks!

Finished in Acer’s professional matte-textured dark charcoal chassis with a low-reflection anti-glare finish and full-sized keyboard deck with an integrated 10-key numeric keypad, the TravelMate 5542 series was engineered for serious reliability. Powered by an authentic dual-core AMD Athlon II dual-core processor running at 2.20GHz, a full 4.00 GB of DDR3 RAM, and an internal 250GB Hitachi Travelstar SATA hard drive (Model: HTS545025B9A300 / 219 GB formatted NTFS C: partition with over 185 GB of free space), this notebook boots cleanly and swiftly into an authentic installation of Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit complete with the factory Acer TravelMate desktop wallpaper!

For retro PC gamers, vintage hardware collectors, and software archivists, an authentic bare-metal Windows 7 machine is an essential bridge for running turn-of-the-decade PC classics that run into modern OS DRM blocks, scaling glitches, or crash errors on Windows 10/11. Backed by integrated ATI Mobility Radeon graphics, it effortlessly glides through era blockbusters like Fallout 3 & New Vegas, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, The Sims 2 & 3, Portal 1 & 2, Civilization IV & V, Left 4 Dead, Half-Life 2, World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King, StarCraft II, and Diablo II.

Engineered for full standalone media utility, it comes equipped with an internal Matshita DVD-RAM UJ8A0AS tray-loading optical burner, a bright 15.6" High-Definition widescreen display, integrated webcam, 3 high-speed USB 2.0 ports, 10/100/1000 Gigabit Ethernet, and dual video outputs featuring both legacy analog VGA (ideal for connecting directly to external CRT gaming monitors or vintage 4:3 LCDs) and digital HDMI for modern flat panels and TVs.

Condition Notes

• Functional Condition: 100% bench-tested and fully operational. Boots cleanly and swiftly into its original factory installation of Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit with all drivers and native utilities loaded. The AMD Athlon II 2.20GHz dual-core processor runs cool and responsive, all 4GB of RAM test healthy, and the 250GB Hitachi hard drive reads and writes cleanly with a healthy partition. The 15.6" HD display is bright, clear, and evenly illuminated with rich contrast. Keyboard keys, numeric keypad, touchpad, USB ports, optical drive, and display outputs function properly. Please note: Due to the age of vintage laptop lithium-ion battery cells, prolonged runtime on battery power alone cannot be guaranteed; the system operates reliably when plugged into the included AC power adapter.

• Cosmetic Condition: Great vintage condition overall. The dark matte charcoal outer lid and textured keyboard deck are structurally solid with intact hinge tension and no cracked chassis plastic. Shows light, normal cosmetic surface marks, faint edge wear, and minor handling scuffs consistent with careful business/home use and vintage age. The display glass is clean and free of cracks. Original palm rest badges, embossed Acer lid emblem, and the underside regulatory label (TravelMate 5542-3590) remain intact and fully legible. Please review the high-resolution photos for an exact look at physical condition.
