A classic mid-’90s Compaq business desktop, set up for DOS gaming and Windows 3.11. It boots cleanly to MS-DOS 6.22 and Windows for Workgroups 3.11, and the CD-ROM and Sound Blaster audio both work in DOS.

  • Duke Nukem 3D (not pictured; installed mainly to test the CD-ROM drive)
  • Compaq diagnostics partition (press F10 at boot): Computer Setup, INSPECT system information, and Computer Checkup (TEST)

Testing Performed

  • Boots to DOS 6.22 and Windows 3.11 without errors

  • CD-ROM reads discs in DOS
  • Sound card initializes and passes Creative’s DIAGNOSE test

Condition
This unit came from an industrial environment, which accounts for most of the wear and damage below. Please review all photos.

  • Front bezel: Lower right corner is cracked and broken off below the drive bays
  • Case lid: Paint and plastic chipping along one edge of the top cover
  • Rear I/O trim: Plastic trim strip under the rear ports is cracked, with a peeling port-label sticker and grime
  • Rear panel: Worn and wrinkled compliance labels; some rust spots on the thumbscrews and around the fan grille screws
  • CD-ROM drive: Added by me; the machine did not have one installed originally. Its bezel is a different shade from the case and does not match.
  • General: Light scuffs and marks on the front panel; normal yellowing
  • Internals: Motherboard and components are clean and fully functional

What’s Included

  • Compaq Deskpro 575 computer as pictured
  • Power cord
  • Spare drive bay cover and 1 additional set of 5.25" drive rails (not pictured; stored behind the bottom bay cover)
  • No keyboard, mouse, or monitor included

Please Note
This is vintage hardware, roughly 30 years old. Components of this age can fail without warning, and the system may need maintenance or repair over time. It was tested and working at the time of listing.
