The fact that this router was uniquely modified or "re-programmed" with a laptop’s IMEI makes it a highly desirable niche item for specific tech-savvy users, cord-cutters, or people living in rural areas. The T-Mobile database reads the handwritten IMEI as belonging to an HP Spectre Folio 13 (a high-end leather convertible laptop built with an integrated 4G LTE cellular chip) instead of a gotW3 router box. so the device acts like a laptop or tablet on the network, bypassing restrictions on dedicated hotspot/router data plans.
