The HP 49A toner cartridge is a laser supply for the LaserJet 1160 and 1320 series, compact monochrome desktop printers built for personal and small workgroup document duty that remain in service for forms, labels and everyday correspondence. The cartridge combines the toner supply with its imaging drum in one housing, and it tilts into a moulded cradle once the top cover is lifted, seating on two side guides that set drum position against the transfer roller. HP built these models around an instant on fuser, so a short job clears the output tray quickly instead of waiting through a long warm up from idle. Because the chassis carries no graphical display, remaining toner is reported through the printer driver and the status utility on the host computer rather than at the device. Toner is matched to the fusing profile of the engine for defined small text and even solid coverage.

• Key Features:
• Cradle Seating Design: The unit tilts into a moulded cradle under the lifted top cover and rests on side guides that set drum position against the transfer roller.
• Instant Fusing Engine: The platform heats its fuser on demand, so a short job leaves the output tray promptly rather than after an extended warm up from idle.
• Combined Supply Housing: Toner and imaging drum occupy a single shell, keeping replacement to one motion with no loose powder and no separate drum interval.
• Host Reported Levels: With no graphical panel on the chassis, the driver and status utility on the connected computer carry remaining toner information instead.
• Even Coverage Output: Toner suits the fusing profile of this engine, holding defined edges on small point text and consistent density across rules and solid fills.
