New Old Stock/ Complete in Box - No Head BandRe-shrunkwrapped (NOT factory shrinkwrap)(see images)
Stop the Evil Ninja Lord Guaku from opening the Dragon Cloud temple's portal to Hell and unleashing his demon minions upon Kasumi Island and the world. Battle is out in this bloody brawler in 1 player story mode or 2 player versus mode as one of the 8 all-time greatest warrior-fighters. Gain fighting skill and master special moves from bout to bout as you journey through the Underground Labrynth to hte Dragon Cloud temple where you'll face your iltimate opponent: the Evil Ninja Lord Gyaku himself!
.........Kasumi Island has been taken over by someone named Gyaku, and the only way you can remove Gyaku from power is by beating him in his true form, a devil. You must compete against several other characters including Angus, a Scotsman who shoots fireballs from under his kilt [does he light his farts or something?], Alaric the King Of The Goths, Thundra, an Amazon warrior, Pakawa, a Native American [gotta be politically correct], Danja, an urban gang leader, Chagi, a Chinese kickboxer, and Habaki and Senzo, the ninja twins.
Graphics
Kasumi Ninja's graphics are the best part about this game. The backgrounds are photo-realistic (check out the background during the fight with Devil Gyaku...that background looks just 2 sweeeeeet) , and the digitized characters look nice with some decent animation, however sometimes the animation can get choppy. Also in the Gorefest setting, blood sprays constantly and stays on the ground during the fight. The "fatality" moves are okay, but not as good as Mortal Kombat "fatalities"...........
Gameplay Overview
- Style: 2D fighting game featuring digitized actors and sprites, set against pseudo-3D parallax-scrolling backgrounds.
- Controls: Utilizes a basic layout with one punch button, one kick button, and a special move button that requires holding down and executing directional rolls on the controller.
- Roster: Features a small selection of bizarre fighters, including ninjas like Habaki and Senzo, a thunder god-like character named Thundra, and Angus—a Scottish warrior who can shoot fireballs from under his kilt.
- Gore and Finishers: Known for featuring persistent blood effects on the screen and basic finishing moves/fatalities at the end of matches
Gameplay Mechanics & Features
- Digitized Fighter Aesthetic: The game utilizes digitized real-life actors superimposed over pseudo-3D battlegrounds utilizing parallax line scrolling.
- The "3D" Character Selection Maze: Instead of a traditional roster grid, the single-player story mode positions your character within a small 3D environment where moving down different paths triggers encounters with specific opponents.
- Cumbersome Controls: Utilizing the native Atari Jaguar Controller, execution proves notoriously difficult. Players must hold down a dedicated special move button (the C button) while inputting traditional d-pad directional rolls to pull off standard fireballs or torpedo attacks.
- Gore & Fatalities: Capitalizing on the 90s shock-value trend, it features prominent blood effects that linger on the screen floor. It was also historically notable for being one of the very first home console games to feature a built-in parental lockout password system to censor violence
The RosterYou initially start single-player mode with access to only two mirror-match ninjas: Habaki and Senzo. Defeating other opponents across the tournament unlocks them for selection in your next match. Some of the standout unique characters include:
- Angus MacGregor: A Scottish brawler infamous for throwing fireballs from underneath his kilt.
- Thundra: A tribal warrior whose gameplay style and torpedo dash closely mirror Raiden from Mortal Kombat.
- Alaric: A ruthless goth-styled warlord.
- Lord Gyaku / Demon Gyaku: The dual-phase final boss who must be beaten in a unique best 3-out-of-5 rounds style format.
