OPTIC DESCRIPTION
QTY 1"UNTESTED"ORIGINAL Ciena-NORTEL NTK592NGE5 1Gbps CWDM SFP 1510nm 120km Single-Mode LC Transceiver
TheCiena NTK592NG(specifically part numberNTK592NGE5) is aspecializedoptical SFP transceiver moduleused primarily as a low-power Optical Service Channel (OSC) component within theCiena OME 6500packet-optical platform. Are you looking topurchasereplacement units?let us knowSEND US A MESSAGE:Are you looking for apricing and availability quote, datasheet specifications (like transmission distance/link budget), or checking its compatibility with a specificCiena platform(like the 6500 or 3900 series)
Compatibility & Network Architecture
- In optical transport networks, compatibility and network architecture are closely linked. TheCiena NTK592NGtransceiver serves as a primary building block within a network'sDCN (Data Communication Network) management plane, rather than the traffic-carrying payload plane.[1]Its specific role dictates exactly where it sits in a network topology, how it interfaces with Ciena’s photonic layers, and the architectural rules governing its deployment. Are you trying to resolve acompatibility issue, source areplacement module, or find its matchingdownstream counterpart (XCVR-S40U33)? Let us know your hardware configuration so we can assist further
- .Do you needcurrent hardware and other optics?
- or do you need to know if it fits a specificline card modelinside a Cienaplatform?
1. Native Ciena Devices1. Other Ciena OME 6500 VariantsWhile it is most famously used in the standardCiena OME 650014-slot and 32-slot optical chassis, it is natively recognized by the entire 6500 family:[1]
- OME 6500-T (T-Series):Packet-Optical transport shelves.
- OME 6500 S-Series:Specialized compact or high-density shelves.
- 6500-D2 / D7 / D14(Compact Shelves):Used for localized node management where an Optical Service Channel (OSC) is still required to tie back to the main core ring.
2. Ciena SPAP (Shelf Processor with Access Panel) CardsThe optic doesn't just plug into generic switch ports; it is natively mapped to specific Ciena master control hardware:[1]
- NTK555NA/NTK555NB (SPAP-2):These are Ciena's dual-CPU shelf processors with integrated access panels. They feature built-in dedicatedOSC optical portsdesigned precisely to ingest the NTK592NG for node-to-node management.[1]
Do you need to verifyswitch hardware compatibilityfor a specific deployment, or findtroubleshooting stepsfor a deployed module? Are you looking because you aremigrating to a non-Ciena environment?Key Specifications
- Form Factor:Small Form-Factor Pluggable (SFP) transceiver.
- Network Technology:1000BASE-CWDM (Coarse Wavelength Division Multiplexing) / OC-3 / STM-1.
- Wavelength:Operating at1510nm(or 1511nm depending on spec variations).
- Cabling & Distance:Operates over Single-Mode Fiber (SMF) with varying OEM/compatible distances (from 40km up to 120km) using anLC connector.
- Primary Role:Often installed as a low-power SFP for adding OSC (Optical Service Channel) lines to telecommunication infrastructure.
