This is a Pioneer BDE-PR1EP professional-grade Blu-ray drive manufactured in either 2020 or 2021 based on inventory. It has been crossflashed to BDR-211M v1.53 firmware to enable 4K UHD Blu-ray ripping with MakeMKV.
Originally designed for professional disc publishing applications, this drive features dust-resistant construction and was engineered for reliable, repetitive optical disc operation. These physical hardware characteristics are retained after crossflashing, distinguishing it from typical consumer Blu-ray drives.
The drive has been tested with multiple 4K UHD Blu-ray discs in MakeMKV following the crossflash to verify functionality. Please see the included screenshots showing the drive’s firmware information and LibreDrive compatibility.
Firmware Notice: Firmware v1.53 is intentionally retained for MakeMKV UHD compatibility. Updating the firmware is not recommended, as doing so may affect UHD functionality.
Important Compatibility Notice: Due to the firmware modification, this drive is no longer intended for use with its original proprietary equipment. It is being sold as a standalone SATA Blu-ray drive for use with computers.
