Topre's capacitive non-contact mechanism has no metal contacts to wear andnothing to bounce, which means no chatter, ever - not after a year, and notafter twenty. Rated life is over 50 million actuations per key. The feel iswhat the reputation rests on: a smooth, weighted press that professionalkeyboarders describe as making long sessions less tiring rather than merelymore pleasant. Uniform 45 g across the board, 4 mm travel.
What this model adds is APC - Actuation Point Changer. The point at whicheach key registers can be set to 1.5 mm, 2.2 mm, or 3 mm, individually.Topre measure up to 25% faster input against a conventional mechanicalswitch at the shallow setting. The practical application is per-key: set thekeys you hit constantly to 1.5 mm for speed, and set the keys you must nevertrigger accidentally to 3 mm. No mechanical keyboard offers thatadjustment because no mechanical switch can - the actuation point isphysical.
RGB backlighting covers 16.77 million colours, configured per key throughthe dedicated software and stored in the keyboard itself.
The keycaps are two-shot moulded rather than printed. The legends are asecond piece of plastic running through the cap, so they cannot wear off -which matters on a keyboard designed to outlast several computers.

USB POWERED - NO VOLTAGE ISSUEThe keyboard draws power from the computer over USB. There is no mainsadapter of any kind, so no transformer and no plug adapter is required, andthere are no voltage compatibility concerns.
NO WIRELESSThis is a wired USB keyboard. It contains no Bluetooth or Wi-Fi, so thereare no radio type approval or certification considerations.

TOPRE SWITCHES ARE NOT MECHANICAL SWITCHESIf you are coming from Cherry MX or a clone, expect a different feel. Toprecapacitive switches have a distinctive press that most owners describe assmoother and more damped. Opinion in the keyboard community is genuinelydivided between the two, and trying one is the only real way to know.
