Calling all retro computing archivists, MS-DOS tinkerers, and Gateway 2000 restoration enthusiasts!
Up for grabs is an authentic Matsushita / Panasonic CR-506-B 5.25" internal SCSI CD-ROM drive (Gateway 2000 OEM Part # CDRSCS014AAWW), manufactured in October 1996. Featuring that glorious mid-90s beige faceplate, hardware volume wheel, 3.5mm headphone jack, and a classic motorized tray mechanism, this 8x SCSI optical drive is a prime candidate for your vintage Pentium or 486 tower build.
System Diagnostic & Provenance
Storage Provenance: Safely stored in a clean, climate-controlled storage unit since the early 2000s. There is no reason to believe it does not work properly!
Power & Tray Test: Connects via standard Molex power. Tray ejects and retracts cleanly on command, and the amber front LED illuminates as expected.
Testing Limits: Offered as Powers On / Untested for full SCSI handshake and optical disc data transfers, as we currently lack an active 50-pin SCSI controller host card.
Cosmetic Condition: Great vintage shape! The beige faceplate has maintained its color well without heavy yellowing, and the metal enclosure shows minimal age-related wear.
